Shannon Construction completed the build-out of Mineo’s Pizza House within the Airside Core at Pittsburgh International Airport, creating a new airport location for the longtime Pittsburgh pizza shop.
The project included a new customer service counter and commercial kitchen with custom millwork, tile and specialty finishes, along with the installation and coordination of food-service equipment. The design incorporates dedicated order and pickup areas, menu and brand signage, and a combination of quartz, wood-look finishes and tile throughout the customer-facing space.
Behind the counter, the project required significant coordination of the restaurant's mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Work included a new commercial kitchen hood and make-up air system, gas service and controls, floor drains and floor sinks, electrical service and connections for specialized kitchen equipment. Field conditions also required adjustments to the bar and kitchen layout to accommodate existing structural and plumbing conditions.
Construction within Pittsburgh International Airport required close coordination with ACAA and airport operations. Material deliveries were required to follow airport security and logistics procedures, and testing required advance coordination with the airport's construction management team.
