Shannon Construction completed the 1,893-square-foot Champion City Sports retail buildout in the Airside Core at Pittsburgh International Airport. Part of the airport-wide modernization accompanying the new landside terminal, the project contributes to a revitalized mix of retail and dining options designed to enhance the passenger experience. Champion City Sports combines sports apparel and merchandise with an interactive simulator, custom displays, stadium-inspired lighting, athletic turf, wall graphics and a distinctive branded storefront.
The project required extensive coordination of architectural finishes, mechanical and electrical systems, fire protection, fire alarm, technology, security and owner-furnished equipment. Working within the active airport environment, Shannon carefully managed badging, vendor access, inspections and overnight deliveries, demolition and other disruptive activities.
The airport includes Champion City Sports among the new shops introduced through its broader transformation and concessions revitalization.
